The Standards Council of Canada (SCC) marked its 50th Anniversary on October 7, 2020. We are recognizing this milestone by launching a 50th Anniversary program and a modernized brand. On October 7, 1970 the Standards Council of Canada Act was signed and since then we’ve been proud to work with the Canadian standardization system to improve Canadian’s quality of life and economic prosperity.

Our modernized brand honours our history, reflects who SCC is now and looks to the future. Our logo features interlocked shapes that represent collaboration and harmonization, themes that are at the core of the work we do. The refreshed brand also includes a new tagline: Open a World of Possibilities.

To highlight the impact of standards and conformity assessment and the important work all our partners in the Canadian standardization network are doing, we’ve launched a special 50th Anniversary section of our website as part of our anniversary program. Over the next year, our site will feature various themes to highlight the current and emerging role of standards and conformity assessment, including protecting the planet, health, trade and gender diversity. Each theme will feature the work of Canadians and how it impacts Canada.
